Thieves make off with Ksh2.7 million from an office in Nairobi

Authorities have initiated an investigation following a burglary at an office in Kamkunji, Nairobi, where thieves absconded with Ksh2.7 million in cash.

The incident took place during the night of Sunday, February 11, 2024, at a business establishment in Kamkunji, Nairobi County.

According to police reports, the security personnel assigned to the premises were absent at the time of the robbery, hindering the collection of detailed statements regarding the events.

It was determined that the perpetrators gained entry by tampering with the locks on the main entrance.

Initial assessments suggest potential collusion between the robbers and either security personnel or other staff members on-site, as per the management’s observations.

Additionally, the managers provided CCTV footage depicting the entry of the robbers and their subsequent escape with the cash.

As of now, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident, and law enforcement continues its inquiries.

In a separate occurrence on February 3, a police officer was arrested in Kisii County for involvement in robbery.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had stolen a smartphone from a Kisii University student, and upon search, the device was found in his possession. He was subsequently taken into custody.

Similarly, on December 20, 2023, authorities arrested four individuals in Lodwar for robbery and recovered stolen items.
