Kenya is set to welcome the global tourism community for UN Tourism Week 2026, a week-long event celebrating the country’s culture, creativity and diverse tourism experiences.
The event, scheduled for September 21–27, 2026, will bring together policymakers, tourism industry leaders, development partners and other stakeholders in both physical and digital spaces.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, the week will focus on the growing role of technology in transforming the tourism sector, including the use of digital platforms, data-driven destination management, artificial intelligence and smart travel services.

Discussions will also examine how digital transformation can promote sustainable tourism, investment, inclusion and job creation, while helping destinations build more resilient tourism systems.
Kenya will use the event to showcase its diverse tourism offering, including its destinations, creative industries, cultural traditions and experiences.
The programme will feature cultural showcases, live events, immersive storytelling and virtual engagements designed to connect visitors with communities and tourism experiences across the country.

The Ministry said the week will also provide an opportunity to explore how culture and tourism can strengthen connections between communities and visitors.
UN Tourism Week 2026 is expected to place Kenya’s people and heritage at the centre of a global conversation on the future of tourism, particularly as technology continues to reshape how travellers discover, access and experience destinations.
