Emergency response teams were on Thursday deployed to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after an aircraft was involved in a crash-landing incident, prompting an immediate emergency response from aviation authorities and rescue agencies.
The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) confirmed the incident and stated that emergency protocols were activated to manage the situation and ensure safety at the airport.

In an official statement, KAA said it was working closely with relevant agencies to coordinate response operations and safeguard passengers, crew members, and airport activities.
“KAA is currently responding to an emergency situation at JKIA. Emergency response teams and agencies have been activated and are managing the situation in accordance with established emergency procedures,” the authority said.
The agency added that further updates would be issued once more verified information becomes available.
The Kenya Red Cross confirmed that its emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene to assist in ongoing rescue and support operations.
Other agencies, including Port Health Services and EMS Kenya ambulance teams, were also involved in the coordinated response effort.
Preliminary reports indicated that no fatalities had been recorded at the time of publication, although authorities had not yet released full details regarding the cause of the crash landing.
Emergency crews were seen securing the aircraft and assessing the scene as investigations into the incident got underway.
The incident comes just weeks after another aviation scare in Kenya. On May 26, a separate aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Wilson Airport, renewing public concern over aviation safety despite no loss of life being reported.
In March 2026, another passenger aircraft arriving from Kisumu International Airport veered off the runway at Wilson Airport, temporarily disrupting operations. All 39 passengers and crew members escaped without injury.

Following that incident, KAA reassured the public that airport operations remained safe and under control despite disruptions.
The authority has consistently maintained that safety remains its highest priority across all airports under its management, stating: “KAA remains committed to the highest standards of safety at all our airports.”
