Among the schools that issued notices to parents and guardians were Moi Girls Nairobi, Sironga Girls National School, and Kisii School. The institutions directed parents to collect their children on Saturday, June 6, 2026, or make arrangements for them to travel home as soon as possible.

In separate communications, the schools indicated that the decisions were reached after consultations with their Boards of Management, parents’ associations, and officials from the Ministry of Education.

At Moi Girls Nairobi, the administration informed parents that learners would be granted a short break following discussions with key stakeholders. The school said the measure was aimed at addressing concerns arising from the current unrest in schools and ensuring the well-being of students while easing anxiety among parents.

Parents were instructed to pick up their daughters from the school beginning at 8 a.m., with the administration promising to communicate reopening dates at a later time.

At Sironga Girls National School, parents received an urgent notice requesting them to organize transport for their daughters after the institution reported a sudden disruption of normal operations. Learners were directed to leave for home immediately.

Kisii School also announced the early release of students following consultations with its Board of Management. In a message to parents and guardians, the school stated that students would depart for home on June 6 due to the prevailing circumstances.

Although the schools did not disclose specific details regarding the incidents that prompted the closures, the simultaneous announcements have attracted attention and point to a broader effort by school administrators to contain tensions and prevent further disruptions.

The affected institutions are among a growing number of schools that have temporarily suspended learning in recent weeks as authorities work to restore order. The latest developments come amid a wave of unrest reported in several secondary schools across the country, only weeks before the second-term half-term break.
