Woman Dies After Suspected Abortion in Molo

Police in Molo Sub-county, Nakuru County, have launched investigations following the death of a 30-year-old woman whose body was discovered inside a rental house at Mucherwo Shopping Centre.

The deceased, identified as Salome Chelagat, was found lying naked on a bed by officers who responded to the scene. Preliminary findings suggest she may have died after undergoing a suspected unsafe abortion on June 2.

Investigators reportedly recovered a foetus from a plastic basin placed beneath the bed, while bloodstains were also observed at the scene.

Crime scene officers documented and processed the area before transferring both the woman’s body and the foetus to the Molo Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where they await postmortem examinations.

Police said the autopsy will help establish the exact cause of death and shed light on the circumstances surrounding the incident. Investigations remain ongoing.

The case comes barely a week after a similar incident was reported in Kiambu County, where a woman was found dead in her house and a foetus discovered nearby. Authorities are still investigating that case.

In a separate incident, police confirmed that a man who was seriously injured during a motorcycle robbery in Seme Sub-county, Kisumu County, has died while undergoing treatment.

The victim, Brian Omondi, was attacked in the early hours of January 1 while travelling with two relatives on a motorcycle. According to police, the group was ambushed by three armed assailants who assaulted them before stealing the motorcycle.

Omondi sustained severe injuries during the attack and was admitted to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries on June 2.

His body was moved to the mortuary pending a postmortem examination as detectives continue efforts to identify and arrest those responsible for the robbery.

Meanwhile, police in Rachuonyo South Sub-county, Homa Bay County, are searching for a 42-year-old man suspected of killing his wife following a domestic dispute.

The victim, Lavenda Omondi, 25, was found dead inside her bedroom in Kogudi Village. Preliminary investigations indicate she may have been killed after disagreements with her husband.

Detectives said the suspect fled after the incident but allegedly left behind a handwritten note in which he claimed responsibility for the killing and accused his wife of infidelity.

The woman’s body bore visible neck injuries, prompting investigators to suspect she may have been strangled or assaulted.

Her body was taken to Rachuonyo Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination, while police continue searching for the suspect as investigations into the suspected murder proceed.
