Kalonzo Tours ODM Stronghold in Fresh Push

Kalonzo Musyoka is currently on a two-day tour of Homa Bay County, where he has kicked off a series of political and community engagements.

The Wiper Party leader began his visit by attending a church service and fundraising event for a campsite at Nyakongo SDA Church in Gem West Ward, Rangwe Constituency.

During the tour, Kalonzo is also expected to visit several market centres along the Rodi Kopany–Rangwe–Asumbi–Suneka road as part of his grassroots outreach programme.

A long-time political ally of the late Raila Odinga, Kalonzo previously supported him in three presidential bids. His presence in the region has been welcomed by some local leaders, who say he is already familiar to the community due to that association.

Rangwe parliamentary aspirant Michael Ogallo said Kalonzo has no political hostility with the Luo community and should feel free to engage locals during his tour.

The Wiper leader was accompanied by Embakasi South MP David Mawathe and several party MCAs.

He also attended the church service following an invitation from Pastor George Odhiambo of Missioners of Hope in Utawala, Nairobi.

Homa Bay, part of the broader Luo Nyanza region, has historically been an ODM stronghold, with many leaders elected on party tickets.

Ogallo described Kalonzo as a calm and non-controversial political figure, adding that he should not be concerned about the absence of some local leaders during his visit.
