Sifuna: 25K Join Linda Mwananchi in Days

Edwin Sifuna has announced that the Linda Mwananchi website attracted nearly 25,000 members within its first week, describing the turnout as both impressive and politically meaningful.

In an online update, Sifuna said the platform ended the week with just under 25,000 sign-ups, noting that such numbers could have a significant impact when viewed against Kenya’s voting patterns.

He explained that voter mobilisation is a key factor in winning elective seats, adding that the current figures already mirror the support needed to secure positions like MCA in most wards, MP in some constituencies, and even senator in counties such as Lamu and Isiolo, based on 2022 election data. He also revealed that 24,619 people had registered so far.

His remarks come as the Linda Mwananchi campaign prepares to resume nationwide activities after a short break. Sifuna outlined an upcoming tour starting in Narok on Sunday, March 22, followed by Nairobi on March 27, and Mombasa on March 29.

According to the itinerary, the Narok visit will begin with a church service at Covenant Church International (CCI) in Ntulele from 10 am to 1 pm, followed by a rally in Narok town from 2 pm to 5 pm. Sifuna encouraged supporters, especially those in Narok, to sign up through the online platform and be counted as part of the movement.

The renewed push follows the launch of a digital platform designed for fundraising and mobilisation, allowing supporters to contribute as little as Sh10 while registering to take part in campaign activities. Sifuna said the website drew thousands of users shortly after going live, reflecting strong nationwide interest.

However, he also revealed that the platform faced technical challenges, including what he described as malicious attacks. As a result, the team temporarily took the website offline to fix the issues and implement user feedback.
