Buuri Member of Parliament Mugambi Rindikiri was involved in a traffic accident on Thursday morning at Siraji Timau along the Meru–Nanyuki Road.
According to police, the legislator and passengers in both his vehicle and a matatu sustained minor injuries. All those hurt were taken to hospital, where they were treated and reported to be in stable condition.

Reports indicate the MP was on his way to a presidential function in Meru town at the time of the accident. His team later confirmed that he was in good condition and recovering well, though they did not share further details.
Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.
President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki went on with the scheduled event at Kinoru Stadium in Meru County, which centred on the Nyota Project Business Start-Up Capital Disbursement.

The incident comes amid rising road accidents nationwide. Police data shows that 294 people lost their lives in separate crashes between January 1 and January 21, 2026, marking an increase compared to the same period last year.
Over 600 others were injured and are currently receiving medical care.
