Speaking during the launch of a Rural Electrification Programme in Kitui South on Friday, Wandayi lauded Kalonzo’s leadership qualities, stating that the former Vice President’s involvement in government would be “invaluable.”

“I believe that Dr. Kalonzo Musyoka will soon team up with Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President William Ruto to lead the country forward,” Wandayi said.

“Having worked with him in NADCO, I am fully convinced that his role in government would be vital.”

Wandayi also defended Raila’s push for intergenerational dialogue, saying it is essential to bridging the gap between Gen Z and older generations. “Opponents of this initiative are enemies of progress,” he remarked.

But Kalonzo quickly shut down the claims, asserting that Wiper has no intention of joining forces with the government or forming any alliance with President Ruto.

In a firm statement also made on Friday, Kalonzo said, “There will be no UDA-Wiper merger,” reaffirming the opposition’s grassroots campaign dubbed ‘wantam.’

“We’re not interested in dialogue with Ruto. Dialogue for what? We want justice as outlined in the constitution,” he stated.

Kalonzo also dismissed Raila’s dialogue proposal, arguing that young Kenyans are demanding more tangible solutions.

“Young people need jobs, properly funded university education, and the protection of their rights. We don’t want dialogue with Ruto — hatutaki,” he said.

The conflicting positions have fueled speculation that President Ruto may be attempting to bring Kalonzo into his camp, amid signs of internal disquiet in the opposition.

Meanwhile, Kalonzo’s ally, Rigathi Gachagua, is currently in the US, where sources say he may be joined by former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i to court the influential diaspora.
