Speaking on Thursday during the official opening of the third national executive retreat in Karen, Nairobi, Ruto urged members of his government to stay committed to fulfilling the promises made to Kenyans, rather than being sidetracked by political ambitions.

“My concern is not the next election, but the transformation I pledged to Kenyans,” Ruto said.

He expressed satisfaction with the government’s progress, stating that although some policy choices have been tough, they are beginning to show positive outcomes.

“I’ve had to make difficult decisions, but I’m encouraged by the results we’re starting to see,” he noted.

The two-day retreat brings together Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and senior officials to evaluate the administration’s performance and chart the way forward.

The forum focuses on tracking the progress of the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which targets six key areas: reducing the cost of living, ending hunger, job creation, expanding the tax base, improving the trade balance, and inclusive economic growth.

These goals are being pursued through strategic investment in five sectors: agriculture, healthcare, MSMEs, the digital economy and creative industry, and affordable housing.

“The key question remains: what impact are our efforts having on the lives of Kenyans, and how can we adjust to improve results?” said Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau.
