Kilifi Governor Gideon Maitha Mung’aro has announced the passing of his father, Gideon Baya Mung’aro Senior, on Sunday—an emotional loss that coincided with Father’s Day.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Governor Mung’aro reflected on their life together, describing the day as especially difficult due to the occasion meant to honor fathers.
“Today, on Father’s Day, I have lost my father, Gideon Baya Mung’aro Senior,” he shared.
The Governor extended his appreciation to friends and family for their support and prayers during this sorrowful period.
“Though this is an incredibly painful time, I’m deeply thankful for the outpouring of love and encouragement. Your support is helping us navigate through the grief,” he added.
Mombasa Governor Abdullswamad Sherrif Nassir was among the leaders who sent condolences to the Mung’aro family. In his message, Nassir expressed sympathy on behalf of the County Government and the people of Mombasa.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of your beloved father, Mzee Gideon Baya Mung’aro Senior,” he stated.
Nassir praised Mzee Mung’aro as a respected elder and community leader who served Gede Location with distinction and left a lasting legacy of service and integrity.
He assured Governor Mung’aro of his support during this difficult period, emphasizing that the impact of Mzee Mung’aro’s values and leadership would be remembered across the country.
