Speaking at Christ’s Joy Christian Church in Ndunyu Chege, Murang’a County, on Sunday, Gachagua said he was simply voicing concerns from the public, warning against any attempt to rig the upcoming elections.
“I never said there will be chaos in Kenya. I only echoed the fears expressed by Kenyans that the elections must be free of malpractice to avoid a repeat of the 2007/2008 crisis,” he clarified.
He urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to uphold integrity and learn from history, cautioning that if irregularities occur in 2027, the fallout could surpass previous instances of unrest.

Gachagua stressed that as a leader, it is his responsibility to speak out when the country faces potential threats to peace—just as he previously warned the government about the consequences of the 2024 Finance Bill, which led to public protests and unrest.
“We’re not inciting violence. We’re saying we’ve seen what happens when elections are not credible. Leaders must raise the alarm when danger looms,” he added.
His remarks follow a controversial interview on Obinna TV on May 16, where he warned that mismanagement of the 2027 elections could spark violence even worse than that of 2007/08.
“If the IEBC tampers with the elections, the aftermath will be disastrous. 2007 will seem like a Christmas celebration,” he had said during the interview.
