In a social media post shared on Monday, KUCCPS listed key mistakes that applicants often make when the application portal is open and encouraged candidates to be cautious to avoid these costly missteps.

The first error involves entering incorrect phone numbers on the contact form. KUCCPS emphasized that using the wrong mobile contact details can lead to missed updates or important messages from the agency.

Another common oversight is failing to submit the application after selecting courses and leaving them in the Course Basket. KUCCPS reminded applicants that they must complete the process by clicking the “Application/Revision” tab followed by “Apply Now” to have their choices considered.

The third mistake is applying for only one course and leaving the other available slots empty. KUCCPS advises applicants to utilize all four options to boost their chances of getting placed.

Similarly, choosing the same course in all four slots—particularly for competitive programs like Medicine, Nursing, or Engineering—poses a risk. KUCCPS recommends diversifying course choices to reduce the possibility of missing placement.

Another error is selecting a single course at only one institution. This limits placement opportunities and is discouraged.

Applicants were also cautioned against randomly ordering their course selections. KUCCPS urged candidates to rank courses in order of preference, starting with the most desired option at number one.

Lastly, the agency warned against using the M-Pesa transaction ID to submit applications. Instead, applicants should use the eCitizen account number, which consists only of alphabetical characters and is shown in the middle of the M-Pesa confirmation message.

The placement portal is currently open for applications to degree, TVET, and TTC programs for the upcoming September 2025 intake. KUCCPS has also established 63 support centers across all 47 counties, where officers are on hand to assist applicants.

The application window will close on April 30, 2025.
