The service, which was being attended by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, turned chaotic when the group caused a commotion within the church compound.
In response, Gachagua’s bodyguards were forced to fire gunshots into the air to disperse the agitators.
Footage shared online captured scenes of congregants fleeing for safety as plastic chairs were hurled during the disturbance, which occurred in a tented extension of the church.
Some of the disruptive youths were later seen running toward the parking area, where additional shots were fired to restore order.
No injuries had been reported at the time of this report.
Following the incident, the church’s resident pastor addressed the shaken congregation, assuring them that security had been reinforced and that there was no need for fear.
He emphasized that every political leader had the right to worship freely and defended Gachagua’s presence at the church.
