She was captured at her hideout in Malava, Kakamega County, after being traced by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Nairobi Regional Headquarters, in collaboration with the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, using forensic evidence.

During questioning, the woman led detectives to Kapsoi in Vihiga County, where they recovered 700,000 Shillings from her grandmother’s house. The investigation then took them to her rural home in Kipkaren, Uasin Gishu County, where they found three chain links purchased with the stolen money.

The woman also guided them to her rented house in Nairobi’s South B, Fuata Nyayo area, where an additional 800,000 Shillings was found.

The DCI began the investigation after the employer reported that the security guard had seen the housekeeper leaving with a large bag on March 16, 2025. Upon returning home, the employer discovered the housekeeper’s phone was switched off and the 2.2 million Shillings, which had been kept safely in the bedroom, was missing.

The housekeeper, who had claimed she was running an errand for her employer, is currently being held at Capitol Hill Police Station and will soon face charges in court.
