In an interview with Daily Nation, Kilobi, a 40-year-old journalist, shared her reasons for keeping her pregnancy private. “This journey was personal for us. We wanted to shield it from external noise and speculation,” Kilobi explained.
She also clarified that her time away from work wasn’t due to her pregnancy. “I took a sabbatical in June, but it wasn’t because of that. I enjoyed the peace that came with stepping out of the public eye. Now I’m on maternity leave, but I’ll be back soon,” Kilobi added.
Kilobi also shared that she had not undergone any fertility treatments during the seven years of waiting for a child, expressing her immense joy and gratitude for finally becoming a mother. She named her son Atwoli Junior after his father.
In a previous interview, Atwoli revealed that he met Kilobi in 2005 when she was working at Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC). Atwoli had been invited there for an interview and insisted on meeting her after hearing about a Kenyan woman working at the station.
