In Yatta, Machakos, last night, law enforcement intercepted a vehicle transporting suspected donkey meat. The truck, en route to a market in Nairobi, was carrying the carcasses of 12 donkeys.
The interception took place at the Kwavonza trading center in Katothya village, Kanyonyo sub-location in Machakos County. Two suspects were apprehended at a residence where authorities also discovered donkey offal and intestines. A third suspect managed to evade capture.
Yatta OCPB Ben Baraza stated, “Our officers took action after being tipped off by members of the public. The mastermind escaped, narrowly, but two people are in police custody.”
According to the police, the vehicle was transporting properly packed donkey meat intended for the Nairobi market.
The arrested suspects are scheduled to appear in Kitui court on Monday, the 22nd.
