In a statement issued on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, the club expressed confidence in Ocholla’s experience and leadership, describing him as the right man to guide the team through this transitional phase.

“Ulinzi Stars FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Coach Stephen Ocholla as Interim Head Coach. Coach Ocholla brings vast experience and strong leadership, having served both as a player and coach within Kenyan football,” the statement read.

The club’s management added that Ocholla’s familiarity with the team’s culture and his disciplined approach would help restore confidence and stability.

“His deep understanding of the game and his commitment to excellence reflect the core values of Ulinzi Stars FC. We welcome Coach Ocholla back to the Ulinzi family and wish him success as he leads the team into a new chapter,” the club stated.

Ocholla returns to Ulinzi after three years, having previously managed the team during the first leg of the 2021/22 season before being replaced by 2010 title-winning coach Benjamin Nyangweso.

His first task will be to lead Ulinzi Stars against Bidco United at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in a crucial league fixture.

Ocholla takes charge with the team currently sitting 15th on the FKF Premier League table with five points—one win, two draws, and two losses. The Soldiers began the season with a 1-0 win over Murang’a Seal, drew goalless with Kariobangi Sharks and Kenya Police FC, but suffered back-to-back defeats to Mara Sugar FC (2-1) and Kakamega Homeboyz (3-1), prompting Nyaudo’s sacking.
