In a statement, Wigan reflected on the strengthened Kenya–UK relations during his time in office, highlighting milestones such as the historic visit by King Charles III, the signing of the Kenya-UK Strategic Partnership, training of Kenyan marines, and major infrastructure investments including the Nairobi Railway City.

“I have also seen the incredible potential of Kenya and her people—from engaging with Maasai elders to supporting women-led businesses in Wajir, visiting tea plantations in Bomet, and exploring the Silicon Savannah,” Wigan said, adding that he had visited most counties and regretted not reaching them all.

The British High Commission noted that Wigan’s successor will be named in the coming months. In the interim, Deputy High Commissioner Dr. Ed Barnett will serve as Chargé d’Affaires.

Wigan’s diplomatic career has included serving as UK Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo (2010–2013), Somalia (2013–2015), and Israel (2019–2023), as well as roles in the Cabinet Office and the FCO focusing on Middle Eastern and EU economic affairs.
