Two people lost their lives after a fire destroyed a residential house in Makunga area on the outskirts of Kitale town, Trans Nzoia County.
The blaze, which broke out at around 9pm, also destroyed property of unknown value. The victims were identified as a middle-aged woman and the owner of the plot where the house was located.
Residents said the cause of the fire is not yet known, and police have launched investigations to establish what triggered the incident.
