Ruto emphasized that while he continues to prioritize affordable housing and classroom projects, he will not back down from building churches, as he believes it is “the will of God.”
“Tutamuaibisha shetani. Shetani hawezi kutuzuia kujenga nchi yetu ama kujenga makanisa zetu,” he said.
Speaking during a family church service at AIC Jericho in Makadara, Nairobi, Ruto remarked that construction is an integral part of his life, pointing out that even at State House, construction work is ongoing.
He reassured church members that he would support them in completing the church building.
Ruto also made it clear that his involvement in church projects is rooted in his faith, so he doesn’t need permission from anyone.
“I’m going to be a member of the construction committee for this church. I see there’s still work to be done. I am a member of AIC, and I know everything,” he stated.
“Shetani na watu wake wanaweza kukasirika wakitaka lakini tutajenga kanisa.”
Ruto’s remarks come after his recent Sh20 million donation toward the construction of the Jesus Winner Ministry church in Roysambu, which generated mixed reactions.

The President also pledged to mobilize his supporters to raise an additional Sh100 million for the church, which is expected to cost over Sh1 billion.
Some of his political rivals questioned the source of the donation, while a group of youth threatened to occupy the church in protest, demanding the return of the money. Security forces intervened to prevent this.
In response to the donation, the church board clarified that the contribution followed a request from the church’s overseer, Reverend Mwai.
“On the issue of His Excellency the President of Kenya, Hon. William Ruto’s donation to the church, we wish to clarify to the whole nation that he has been our faithful worshipper since 2009,” said Secretary-General Raphael Mwiti in a statement on behalf of the board.
“Hon. President Ruto pledged his support of Sh20 million upon request from our church’s general overseer, Rev. Edward Mwai.”
