Police in Garbatula, Isiolo County, have recovered 300 goats stolen from two local herders during a swift security operation.
According to a statement from the National Police Service (NPS) on Monday, November 29, 2025, officers from Garbatula Police Station acted quickly after receiving a theft report and immediately pursued the suspected livestock rustlers.

The stolen goats were traced to the Malkandaka area, where police encountered five suspects. On sighting the officers, the suspects fled, abandoning the animals and escaping arrest.
“The team tracked the stolen goats to Malkandaka, where they met five suspects. The suspects fled, leaving the animals behind and avoiding arrest,” the NPS statement noted.
The recovered goats were safely returned to their owners, offering relief to the affected herders.
Police say investigations are ongoing to apprehend the suspects involved, while the NPS has stepped up operations to combat livestock theft, including increased patrols, community collaboration, and intelligence-led interventions.
