Ten officials from the Ol Kalou constituency National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), including individuals holding directorial positions in private companies, have been apprehended on allegations of embezzling Ksh55 million in Nyandarua County.
The arrests, made public on Monday, May 6, 2024, by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), pertain to funds purportedly designated for road projects in Ol Kalou constituency, which were never executed.

As per the EACC, the suspects are scheduled to appear before the Nyahururu Anti-Corruption Court at 9 am on the aforementioned date. This legal action follows their detention on Friday, May 3, 2024, and subsequent questioning at the EACC Nyeri Regional Offices.
The decision to prosecute was reached after the Director of Public Prosecution endorsed the EACC’s recommendation to charge the suspects with 16 counts of corruption and economic crimes.
These developments in Nyandarua County follow closely on the heels of former Murang’a governor Mwangi wa Iria and his wife, Jane Waigwe Kimani, being arraigned on April 30, 2024, in connection with an alleged graft amounting to Ksh351 million.
Wa Iria, who denied the charges, was granted bail set at Ksh10 million after being accused of corruption, abuse of office, and money laundering. The case revolves around reports of irregular tender awards by the Murang’a County Government to Top Image Consultants for media and publicity services during the fiscal years 2014/2015 and 2015/2016, totaling Ksh562 million.
