The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has announced that it will begin cutting off water supply to customers with outstanding bills beginning October 15, 2025.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Acting Managing Director Martin Nang’ole said the company was launching the disconnection exercise as part of efforts to recover overdue payments and sustain reliable water service delivery across the city.
“The water disconnection exercise will commence on October 15, 2025, as a decisive enforcement measure to recover overdue arrears from all defaulting consumers,” read the notice.
The enforcement will apply to all categories of customers, including government ministries, county agencies, businesses, institutions, and domestic users.
NCWSC said despite repeated reminders and attempts to engage defaulters, many accounts remain unpaid. Consumers have therefore been urged to clear their arrears immediately to avoid being disconnected.
Reconnection will only be processed after full settlement of outstanding bills, and payments must be made through official channels such as M-Pesa Paybill 444400, the NCWSC online portal, partner banks, and other authorized pay points.
“No consumer or institution will be exempt from this exercise,” the company emphasized, calling on all affected parties to act promptly.
NCWSC reaffirmed its commitment to providing sustainable water services, noting that timely payments are crucial to maintaining smooth operations.
