MP Nguna Urges Kenyans to Support Government and Call Off Demos

In a bid to foster national unity and restore stability following recent political turmoil, Hon. Ngusya Charles, MP for Mwingi West Constituency, has called for an end to demonstrations and urged Kenyans to give the government a chance to serve.

Speaking through a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Hon. Nguna emphasized the importance of peace and collective support for the newly appointed leadership.

“I was the First MP to call for dissolution of parliament 2023 during an interview in a local radio station,” Hon. Ngunya noted, reflecting on his earlier stance.

“Now is the time for us to unite as a country. Let’s cease these demonstrations and allow the President to appoint the cabinet, constitute the IEBC, and move forward.”

The MP acknowledged the recent decisions made by President William Ruto, highlighting three key actions taken in response to public concerns: the rejection of the Finance Bill 2024, the dissolution of the Cabinet, and a commitment to further governmental restructuring. These moves, according to Hon. Ngunya, reflect a responsive leadership that listens to the voices of the people.

“Sometimes there comes a time when the peace and stability of the country is more important than anything else,” Hon. Ngunya asserted. “Businesses are suffering significant losses, lives are being lost, and prolonged demonstrations are affecting us all. Kenyans now have an opportunity to revisit in 2027 and make informed decisions for the future.”

Addressing the recent challenges faced by Parliament, Hon. Ngunya expressed concern over the violation of its sanctity but reassured the electorate that mechanisms are in place for accountability.

“Electorates who are not contented with their MPs can recall them once IEBC is in place,” he explained, highlighting a path for democratic participation and accountability.

Hon. Ngunya called upon all Kenyans to prioritize peace and national interest above individual grievances. “Let us come together as one nation,” he urged, “and support the efforts of our government to steer Kenya towards prosperity and stability.”
