Muthoni recently made headlines by setting a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous tree hug, remaining in unbroken contact with an indigenous tree for 72 hours at the Nyeri Governor’s Office grounds on December 11, 2025.

Environmentalist Truphena Muthoni replicates her record breaking tree-hugging experience with staff at Mt Kenya University, December 18, 2025.

The feat garnered widespread attention, with onlookers lauding her resilience, discipline, and the awareness she raised about forest conservation and climate change.

This new record surpasses her previous 48-hour world record achieved at Michuki Memorial Park in Nairobi, which was also officially recognised by Guinness World Records. Both accomplishments highlight her focus on environmental action and the promotion of emotional well-being, central themes in her advocacy work.
