The shooting happened following the arrest of two women by a mob who accused them of livestock theft. Six goats suspected to have been stolen from various homes were recovered during the incident.

The victim, Kimanzi Musili, suffered a gunshot wound to his left shoulder and is currently recovering in hospital. The incident has sparked public outrage, with residents calling for the immediate arrest of the OCS responsible.

Migwani Deputy County Commissioner Rukia Sitati condemned the growing cases of livestock theft in the area and vowed that everyone involved, including accomplices, would face legal consequences.

Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna also weighed in, criticizing the shooting and urging law enforcement to use firearms responsibly.

“Firearms are meant to protect the public, not endanger them,” Nguna said, calling on the Inspector General of Police to ensure officers operate within the six lawful conditions governing firearm use.
