Manchester United Beats Bournemouth 4-1 in US Friendly

Manchester United secured their second win in as many games with a dominant 4-1 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League Summer Series pre-season tournament in Chicago on Wednesday.

Rasmus Hojlund, Patrick Dorgu, Amad Diallo, and teenager Ethan Williams all found the net, delivering an impressive performance for Ruben Amorim’s side at a rainy and windy Soldier Field.

Having started their US tour with a 2-1 win over West Ham on Saturday, United were in control throughout the match, taking an early lead in the 8th minute. Dorgu delivered a perfect cross from the left, and Hojlund expertly timed his header to beat Bournemouth keeper Djordje Petrovic.

Dorgu doubled United’s advantage in the 25th minute, capitalizing on a clever, lofted free-kick from Mason Mount. He muscled his way into the area before finishing calmly beneath the oncoming Petrovic.

Diallo added United’s third in the 53rd minute, and after Amorim made nine substitutions with 20 minutes remaining, Williams, just two minutes after coming on, curled a low shot into the bottom corner to make it 4-0.

The only setback for United came in the 88th minute, when Matthijs de Ligt scored an own goal, reducing the lead to 4-1.

In the day’s other friendly, West Ham came from behind to defeat David Moyes’s Everton 2-1. Idrissa Gueye put Everton ahead in the 17th minute, but West Ham equalized just before halftime through Lucas Paqueta. Niclas Fullkrug’s 64th-minute goal sealed the win for the Hammers.

Everton’s pre-season struggles continued after their 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday. Moyes, speaking after the loss, said, “I’m not overly concerned because I don’t have the players I need and want. We knew coming to the US would be tough, so it was never about us winning here.”

“The team isn’t ready to perform at its best, and we’re not prepared for the start of the Premier League season,” he added.

The four-team competition will conclude in Atlanta on Sunday, with United facing Everton and West Ham taking on Bournemouth.
