A man who sparked violent protests after burning a Quran has been shot dead in Sweden, according to local media reports.

Salwan Momika, 38, was reportedly murdered in a house in Södertälje, Stockholm on Wednesday night.
Riots erupted after Momika burned the holy book of Muslims, the Quran, outside a Stockholm mosque in 2023.
Stockholm police have confirmed they have arrested five people after a middle-aged man was shot dead last night.
Local media reported that Mr. Momika was following the events live on social media when he was killed.
Mr. Momika, an Iraqi citizen living in Sweden, faced charges in August along with another person for “incitement against a certain tribe” four times in the summer of 2023.
The verdict was due to be delivered on Thursday, but was delayed after “it was confirmed that one of the defendants had died,” the Stockholm District Court said.
Mr. Momika held several anti-Islam protests, sparking outrage in many countries with large Muslim populations.
Violence broke out twice at the Swedish embassy in Baghdad, with the Swedish ambassador being expelled from the city following a diplomatic dispute.
The Swedish government gave Mr. Momika permission to hold the protest where he burned the holy book of the Quran, saying it was in accordance with freedom of expression laws.
However, it later promised to explore legal means to prevent protests involving the burning of scriptures in certain circumstances.
