Man Killed in Nakuru Robbery as Crime Cases Rise

A 67-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a robbery along Igobor Road in Kaptembwo, Nakuru County.

Police identified the victim as William Nyabera, a retired Ministry of Information driver. Nyabera was riding his motorcycle home from Nakuru town on Sunday night when a gang of unidentified assailants attacked him.

According to police, the attackers stabbed him in the chest and stomach before pushing him to the ground and fleeing with his motorcycle. He was rushed to Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His body was later moved to Annex Funeral Home for preservation, awaiting postmortem. Police have launched a manhunt for the gang behind the killing, which adds to a growing number of robberies targeting motorcycle riders in the region. Officers have urged riders to prioritize their safety by complying with attackers during such incidents.

In Nyaigwa village, Nyamira County, a woman identified as Sheril Ohanga died after jumping from the second floor of a building following an altercation with her boyfriend. Police said she sustained bruises on her left hand and was bleeding from her left ear when she was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The boyfriend, who claimed they had been drinking before the incident, was arrested for questioning.

Meanwhile, in Sasini village, Magumu, Nyandarua County, John Thuo, 28, was stabbed to death during an argument. Police said he sustained a deep cut to the groin, leading to severe bleeding. He was rushed to Naivasha Level Four Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The suspect was arrested hours later.

Elsewhere in Runda, Nairobi, residents recovered a pistol and stolen items after a botched robbery near the Northern Bypass bus stop along Kiambu Road.

A security guard heading home to Githogoro was confronted by an armed robber who took his phone. As the assailant fled, boda boda riders joined the chase, forcing him to drop a Jericho pistol with an empty magazine and three mobile phones before escaping.

Police recovered the items and confirmed that the guard identified his stolen phone. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
