Ugandan authorities have detained a 34-year-old man from Ntungamo District on charges of dismembering his nine-year-old nephew and providing the remains to his wife for cooking.
The disturbing incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, January 14, when the suspect committed the gruesome act before presenting the chopped remains of his elder brother’s son to his spouse in a saucepan. Upon realizing the horrifying truth, the suspect’s wife raised an alarm, prompting concerned residents to gather at the scene and positively identify the deceased.
The authorities swiftly arrested the suspect, who is currently in custody. According to Rubaare Sub-County District Councillor John Kabeho, the suspect committed the heinous act while his wife was away from home.
“The suspect was left home with the child while his wife and his child went to church. When the wife returned from church, her husband told her that he had bought some meat and it was in a saucepan in the kitchen. He instructed the wife to cook it immediately because he was hungry,” explained Mr. Kabeho.
The Councillor also revealed that the suspect has a history of mental instability. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
