Man, 64, Fatally Stabbed in Domestic Row in Homa Bay

A 64-year-old man lost his life after being stabbed during a domestic altercation in Rachuonyo South Sub-county, Homa Bay County.

According to police, the incident occurred in Kowidi Location, Kanyango Sub-location. The victim, identified as George Michael Otieno, was found in the sitting room of his house with a stab wound at the base of his neck.

Preliminary reports indicate the incident happened on the evening of April 10 at around 8:00 p.m., when the man allegedly returned home intoxicated and got into a dispute with his wife. The argument reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation, during which the woman is suspected to have stabbed him with a kitchen knife.

Police noted that the couple had been married for about 20 years and had a history of domestic disagreements.

Officers who arrived at the scene recovered a blood-stained knife hidden under a seat near the body. The suspect, who had blood-stained clothes, was arrested.

The body was taken to Rachuonyo County Hospital Mortuary as investigations continue.

Another man found dead after suspected break-in in Kitui

In a separate case, police in Kitui County are probing the killing of a 27-year-old man following a suspected break-in at a bar in Mutomo Sub-county.

The incident, reported on April 8, was discovered by a local trader who had gone to open his shop at Yongela Shopping Centre. He noticed the adjacent bar had been broken into and spotted blood near the entrance.

Inside, the body of John Nzinga Mutua was found behind the counter.

Police officers from Ikanga Police Station and detectives from Mutomo confirmed the victim had sustained multiple head injuries. A metal rod believed to have been used in the attack was recovered at the scene.

The bar owner said the deceased had been at his home earlier that night with his son before leaving at around 3:00 a.m. It is suspected he may have encountered his attackers shortly after.

The body was moved to Mutomo Sub-county Hospital Mortuary as investigations into both the killing and the break-in continue.
