Machakos: Matatu Tout Commits Suicide After Being Arrested By Kanjos

Machakos authorities have initiated inquiries into the apparent suicide of a Machakos tout who was believed to have taken his own life while in custody shortly after being apprehended by Machakos County Inspectorate officers, commonly known as Kanjos, at the Machakos bus terminus.

Eyewitnesses reported that the man, of middle age, had been arrested by the Kanjos for the third time and was discovered deceased shortly after being placed in the makeshift cell.

Questions arose among onlookers about the circumstances leading to the man’s detention, casting doubt on the nature of his demise.

Law enforcement had to intervene to pacify the angered crowd, demanding answers from the county enforcement officers who had left the scene.

Lawrence Ngovi, Machakos Chief of Staff, confirmed the incident and urged for calm as investigations got underway.

The incident caused disruptions to business activities at the bustling bus station, with concerned residents seeking clarity on the unfolding events.

Muya Ndambuki, Machakos County Secretary, stated that the county administration had suspended the officer implicated in the incident.

The body of the deceased was transferred to the Machakos Level Five morgue for further examination.
