Authorities in Kirinyaga have successfully rescued a 14-month-old baby who went missing last week in the Kingombe area, after being allegedly taken by a relative.

A team of detectives, working with local police, apprehended the primary suspect involved in the incident.

The suspect was tracked down in the Kimbi area and brought to the Kutus Police Station, where the family chose to forgive and move forward after a meeting.

The child had been missing for five days, after her mother, Mary Njoki, left her in the care of her nephew while she went to a barber in Kiangothe town. Upon returning from the salon, Njoki discovered both the child and her nephew were gone.

Unable to find them, the family reported the disappearance to the Kutus Police Station that same day.

According to the investigator, the child was found unharmed at the suspect’s hideout and was later safely reunited with her parents, who had been kept informed of the rescue operation.
