Keter Clinches UDA Ticket in Emurua Dikirr Mini-Poll

David Kipsang Keter has secured the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nomination for the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election following a tightly contested exercise ahead of the May 14 vote.

Keter won the party ticket after garnering 13,749 votes, edging out Bernard Kipkoech Ngeno, who polled 13,394 votes.

The nomination drew significant attention due to the narrow margin between the candidates and the high voter turnout in the constituency.

Leaders who reacted to the results commended both aspirants and residents for maintaining peace throughout the process.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen congratulated Keter, noting that his persistence had paid off, while also applauding Ngeno for a strong and spirited contest.

Murkomen further praised voters for turning out in large numbers and conducting themselves peacefully, describing the nomination as a unique and civil exercise.

Nandi Senator Kiprotich Arap Cherargei also lauded the process, terming it well-organised, transparent, and efficient, while Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya echoed similar sentiments, applauding both candidates and the electorate.

Keter will now represent UDA in the upcoming by-election.

The mini-poll was triggered by the death of area MP Johana Ng’eno, who died in a helicopter crash in Nandi on February 28, 2026, after the aircraft caught fire on impact.
