Kenyan Student Found Dead in Uganda

Authorities in Bushenyi District, western Uganda, have initiated an inquiry into the peculiar demise of a Kenyan student enrolled at Kampala International University (KIU).

The individual in question, Isaac Otieno Ochola, 33 years old, was said to be studying at KIU’s western campus located in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality.

Marcial Tumusiime, spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi police, conveyed that Ochola’s body was discovered at his residence in the Hannington hostel following complaints from neighbors about a noxious odor emanating from his quarters.

“After being alerted by the hostel’s private security guard, the police were notified. Upon arrival, our officers gathered statements from nearby residents and then proceeded to handle the situation,” remarked Tumusiime.

Subsequently, Ochola’s remains were transferred to the mortuary at KIU Teaching and Referral Hospital awaiting further examination through a postmortem procedure.

Reports indicate that Ochola, who was pursuing a Master’s degree in International Medicine in Uganda, was grappling with mental health issues and was under medical care.

“When we entered the room with the police, we observed various medications such as pethidine hydrochloride injections, Clonazepam, and syringes arranged on a table beside the bed. Despite the advanced state of decomposition, the body was found to be appropriately clothed,” Tumusiime recounted.
