Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced that Nyali MP Mohamed Ali will receive a direct ticket from the opposition to run for Mombasa governor in the 2027 elections.
Addressing a rally in Mombasa, Kalonzo said the decision was reached after consultations with other opposition leaders, positioning Ali—popularly known as Jicho Pevu—as their preferred candidate for the county’s top seat.

He noted that the coalition, including figures such as Rigathi Gachagua, Eugene Wamalwa, and Justin Muturi, had agreed to unite behind Mohamed Ali’s bid.
Kalonzo praised Ali’s history of exposing corruption, saying it makes him well-suited to lead Mombasa and tackle governance challenges.
Before joining politics, Mohamed Ali gained national recognition through investigative journalism, where he built a reputation for uncovering corruption and holding leaders accountable.

The move signals early political positioning ahead of the next general election, with opposition leaders beginning to rally behind candidates in strategic regions.
