A recent poll conducted by Infotrak revealed the prevailing sentiments of Kenyans regarding the direction of their country. The survey, released on Thursday, highlighted sixteen reasons why citizens believe Kenya is heading in the wrong direction.
Topping the list of concerns is the high cost of living, cited by 64% of respondents, followed closely by unemployment at 38%. Poor governance ranked third at 27%, with poverty trailing at 22%. Issues such as inadequate infrastructure and problematic politics shared the spotlight at 12%.

Moreover, challenges related to education quality and unequal resource distribution garnered 11% each, while corruption and rising insecurity were flagged by 10% of respondents.

Tribalism was identified by 8% of participants as a significant concern, while lack of cohesion in society and misguided societal values received 6% and 4% of the vote, respectively. Other issues highlighted include unresolved land disputes (3%), burdensome taxation (2%), and deficient healthcare (1%).
The survey, conducted between March 8th and 9th, 2024, sampled 1000 adult Kenyans aged 18 and above. Employing a Population Proportionate to Size (PPS) approach guided by the 2019 Census, the survey aimed for national representativeness across all 47 counties and 8 regions of Kenya.
With a confidence level of 95%, the survey carried a margin of error of 3.099%.
