In a solemn address, Hon. Benjamin Mulandi, the County Assembly Member (MCA) representing Mutongoni Ward in Kitui West, Kitui County, expressed deep distress over the recent unfortunate incident involving Honorable MCA Maeke of Kalama Ward in Machakos County. Mulandi lamented that Honorable Maeke had not only suffered public humiliation but also physical harm at the hands of the Machakos Inspectorate Police.
Mulandi emphasized that such actions are intolerable in a democratic society, where the fundamental principles of justice, respect, and the rule of law should be upheld. He stressed that the violation of Honorable Maeke’s dignity is not merely an attack on one individual but a direct assault on the core values of democracy.
Calling for peaceful resolution, Mulandi urged Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti to initiate constructive dialogue with the MCAs. He emphasized that resorting to violence and humiliation is not a solution, advocating instead for open communication as the means to address differences and foster unity within the county.
Furthermore, Mulandi asserted the solidarity of MCAs nationwide with Honorable Maeke, asserting their collective responsibility to ensure justice prevails and those responsible for the reprehensible act are held accountable. He reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to restoring and upholding Honorable Maeke’s rights.
“As elected representatives, it is our duty to cultivate an environment where disputes are resolved through dialogue, not coercion,” Mulandi declared. He emphasized that Honorable Maeke’s ordeal did not warrant such brutal treatment, emphasizing their steadfast determination to pursue justice on his behalf.
In conclusion, Mulandi reiterated the importance of upholding democratic values and urged for unity and cooperation in the pursuit of justice and peace.
