Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has intensified his attacks on President William Ruto’s allies in Cabinet, widening his political offensive.
The latest target is Health CS Aden Duale, a close ally of the President. Gachagua has accused Duale of mismanaging the Social Health Authority and being linked to alleged irregularities, including a controversial Sh104 billion contract. Speaking at a rally in Ukambani, he claimed Duale has a 17 per cent stake in a company associated with the project and alleged misuse of public funds.

Duale, however, strongly dismissed the accusations, terming them baseless and driven by ethnic politics. He challenged Gachagua to produce official records from the Business Registration Service to back his claims, insisting that such documents would disprove the allegations. He also denied any connection to the company in question or the use of proxies.
The dispute is part of a broader political showdown, with Gachagua increasingly taking aim at key figures in Ruto’s administration. His criticism has gone beyond his rivalry with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to include senior Cabinet members seen as central to the President’s leadership.
Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen is among those previously targeted, with Gachagua accusing him of contributing to insecurity—claims the ministry has rejected. Murkomen has since accused Gachagua of making reckless statements and lacking a clear agenda.
Gachagua has also criticised Mining CS Hassan Joho and ICT CS William Kabogo, both of whom have denied the allegations. He further dismissed speculation about Joho being considered as Ruto’s running mate, arguing such a move would lack political strength.

Additionally, Gachagua has clashed with Lands CS Alice Wahome, who rejected claims that she was being sidelined, stating she has had no engagement with him since he left office.
The ongoing confrontations highlight a deepening political rivalry between Gachagua and the Kenya Kwanza administration as the country edges closer to the 2027 general elections.
