Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya spearheaded a large-scale tree planting initiative at Darajani Springs, Isiolo County, alongside Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel and local residents.

The exercise, part of the Environmental Soldier Programme, saw 5,000 trees planted toward the Ministry of Defence’s target of 500 million trees by 2032 under the national plan to increase forest cover to 30%.
Tuya emphasized Isiolo’s strategic role due to its military infrastructure and ecological importance, urging continued collaboration between the county and KDF for environmental restoration.
