Speaking during a meeting at Afya House on Wednesday, Duale also instructed the Council to collaborate with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) on matters of licensing.
He emphasized that no clinical officer should be licensed if trained at an institution that has not been properly assessed, accredited, and approved by the Council.
Duale stressed the importance of maintaining high standards in medical training and practice to protect public health. As part of boosting accountability, he ordered the Council to carry out a detailed re-inspection of all currently licensed facilities and submit comprehensive reports to the Ministry.
Additionally, the CS called for the full digitization of COC operations to align with the Ministry’s Digital Health Strategy and the goals of the Digital Health Agency. This move aims to enable real-time monitoring and curb malpractice.
