Confusion has arisen in Siaya as a 14-year-old female student, Gloria Adhiambo Owino, who excelled in the KCPE examinations at Nyalgunga Primary School in Alego/Usonga sub-county, discovered that she had been placed in Form One at Lenana, a boys’ school.
Gloria and her family were initially delighted when she scored 389 points, securing a spot in a national school. However, their joy was short-lived when they realized the error in her placement during the downloading of her calling letter.
Speaking from her parents’ residence in Nyalgunga trading center, Gloria expressed her predicament, stating that she had originally received placement at Lenana School, a boys’ institution. Despite her attempts to secure another calling letter for schools such as Alliance, Starehe Girls, and Kisumu Girls, she found herself stranded.
Apart from the confusion caused by the mistaken placement, Gloria, facing financial challenges due to her humble background, now confronts the possibility of being unable to continue her secondary education. Although she aspires to attend Kisumu Girls, financial constraints prevent her parents from paying the school fees. Gloria appeals to the government, local leaders, and well-wishers to assist her in pursuing her dream of becoming a medical doctor.
Gloria’s mother, Margaret Awuor Halowe, reveals that their efforts to secure scholarships from banking institutions have been unsuccessful. She seeks help from well-wishers to rectify her daughter’s placement and provide assistance in covering the required school fees.
