Amin advised Gachagua to report any threats to the nearest police station, saying that the matter would then be handled like any other citizen’s case.

“If the former Deputy President feels threatened or his property is at risk, he should report the issue formally to the police rather than making it a media affair. Once reported, the matter will be investigated to its logical conclusion,” Amin said.

He echoed the sentiments of Inspector General Douglas Kanja, who earlier urged Gachagua to engage directly with police regarding his security concerns.

“I fully support the Inspector General’s position. Gachagua should visit the nearest police station and he will be assisted just like any other Kenyan,” Amin added.

The Inspector General had earlier directed Gachagua to coordinate with police ahead of public events to ensure adequate security arrangements.

“In view of his concerns, Gachagua is encouraged to notify police in advance regarding his movements and public engagements to enable effective security planning,” Kanja said.

In a letter copied to President William Ruto, Gachagua made dramatic claims that his life was under threat, referencing an incident during a funeral in Limuru, Kiambu County on November 28, 2024, which he described as a failed assassination attempt.

Gachagua expressed frustration over the lack of arrests in connection with the incident and made six demands to IG Kanja. These included the immediate arrest of those he claims orchestrated attacks against him, enhanced security at all public functions he attends, and improved personal protection.

He also requested police to stop interfering with peaceful assemblies and demanded that National Intelligence Service officers cease monitoring him and his family.

Lastly, the former Deputy President called for the safeguarding of his residences and property.
