The Ministry of Health has confirmed the second Mpox case in Kenya at the Malaba One Stop Border Post in Busia County.

Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa announced on Friday that the diagnosis followed thorough laboratory testing of an adult male truck driver who showed symptoms of the disease and had recently traveled to the outbreak’s epicenter in the DRC.
The patient has been isolated and is receiving treatment at a local health facility in Busia County.
Of the forty-two Mpox samples tested since the first case was identified, only two have been positive.
The Ministry reassured the public about the readiness of health facilities to handle the disease and emphasized that the detections should not be a cause for concern.
Enhanced surveillance for suspected cases has been implemented across the region and the country.
The Ministry will continue to monitor the situation and take necessary steps to ensure public health and safety.
