President William Ruto has expressed his full support for Dorcas Oduor, the newly appointed Attorney General, affirming that she truly deserves the role and will perform admirably.
In his remarks on Tuesday following her swearing-in at State House, Nairobi, Ruto emphasized that Oduor’s appointment was based on her competence rather than her gender. He expressed confidence in her ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position effectively.
Ruto highlighted that while many have noted her historic role as the first woman Attorney General in Kenya, her appointment is grounded in her skills and qualifications.
He believes she will not only make the nation proud but also exemplify the notion that women can excel as much as, if not better than, their male counterparts.
He advised Oduor to work closely with other agencies to ensure that government and public representation is both timely and effective.
Oduor’s appointment marks a historic milestone as she becomes Kenya’s first female Attorney General, succeeding Justin Muturi, who has been reassigned to the Ministry of Public Service in Ruto’s new Cabinet.
Oduor was confirmed by the National Assembly last week after a vetting process by the Committee on Appointments.
