Ruto: Government and Church to Collaborate for Social Empowerment

President William Ruto emphasized the ongoing collaboration between the Government and religious organizations in addressing societal challenges and uplifting communities economically.

Speaking at the 24th General Assembly at St Andrews PCEA Church in Nairobi, President Ruto praised the significant role churches play in education, healthcare, and societal awareness. He pledged continued cooperation with the Church to implement development projects aimed at empowering citizens.

President Ruto urged Church leaders to assist in combating illicit brews, drugs, and insecurity issues, which have adversely affected many families. He highlighted government initiatives to tackle unemployment, including the affordable housing program and digital economy, aiming to create job opportunities.

President Ruto also addressed bilateral labor agreements with 19 countries to facilitate job opportunities abroad for Kenyans. Regarding insecurity, he called on the Church to promote peaceful coexistence and deploy missionaries to affected regions.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua urged churches to aid in combating drug abuse by establishing rehabilitation centers. National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa stressed the importance of the Church’s role as society’s conscience.
