The detectives dedicated much of their day retracing Kiptum’s movements in the hours leading up to his demise. Their investigation began at Rupa’s Mall, where it was believed the athlete had spent some time before his fatal accident.

Subsequently, they visited Annex Estate, focusing on a restaurant where Kiptum was reported to have been before heading home to Chepkorio along the Eldoret-Eldama Ravine road.

Later in the afternoon, the investigators concentrated their efforts at the accident scene where the late world record holder and his coach lost their lives on the night of Sunday, 11th.

At the scene, they conducted fresh forensic examinations to shed light on how Kiptum veered off the motorway, causing a dip in the pavement to his immediate right before colliding with a tree.
