Verdict Delayed in Monica Kimani Murder Case to March Due to Maribe’s Illness

The High Court has rescheduled the delivery of judgment in the trial involving Joseph Irungu, also known as Jowie, and former TV news anchor Jacque Maribe, who are accused of the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani. Justice Grace Nzioka announced on Friday that the verdict would be pronounced by March 15, 2023.

While Irungu was present in court, Maribe was reported as unwell and on her way to the hospital. Despite Maribe’s absence, the judge stated that the judgment was prepared for delivery.

The postponement was attributed to the unavailability of the court until March, with the judge requesting medical evidence for Maribe’s absence. Initially scheduled for October 6, 2023, the judgment was postponed due to the illness of Lady Justice Grace Nzioka. Subsequent dates in December 2023 and January 2024 were also deferred.

In December, Justice Nzioka mentioned the need for more time to examine a significant volume of exhibits, including clothing and bottles, which were submitted to her during the proceedings.
