GATUANYAGA, KIAMBU— In a proactive effort to mitigate potential flooding and severe weather impacts caused by the impending El Niño rains, Gatuanyaga Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Jack Ma Kungu, accompanied by the Kiambu County Director of Roads, conducted a comprehensive site inspection across key areas of the ward today.
The joint inspection team focused heavily on vulnerable sites along the Thika River and the Tosha area, identifying critical drainage gaps and mapping out exact locations requiring culvert installation. The infrastructure improvements aim to facilitate proper water runoff and prevent the destruction of local roads and property during heavy downpours.
Speaking following the field assessment, MCA Kungu confirmed that construction works are set to begin imminently to ensure the ward is adequately prepared before the full onset of the rains.
“We were able to identify all the areas which need culverts, and the work is starting as soon as possible,” Kungu stated.
The local legislator expressed his gratitude to Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi for responding promptly to the Ward’s infrastructure requests and prioritizing the safety of Gatuanyaga residents. Reiterating his commitment to local development through county partnerships, Kungu emphasized that continuous collaboration remains key to transforming the region.
“Thank you so much Governor Wamatangi for hearing my humble request for my people. We will continue working together for the betterness of Gatuanyaga,” he added, rallying local support behind the governor’s development agenda.
The impending drainage works are expected to bring much-needed relief to residents and motorists in Thika River and Tosha, ensuring seamless connectivity and reduced flood risks throughout the El Niño season.
